A message from us

We are so excited to celebrate with the people we love most in one of our favourite places in the world. Thank you for travelling so far to be with us in September 2027. We can't wait to share this day with you.

With love, Nicole & Doug

How it all began

Our story

Summer in New York, 2011.

A warm night where our friendship began, and soon after a romance flourished between two best friends. Meeting so young has given us the privilege to grow up together and witness milestones for each other.

We've shared great joy and pride in seeing the other graduate school, pursue our dreams, and support each other through life's unprecedented moments. Our relationship has stood the test of time, and we've come to fully understand the meaning of unwavering companionship.

With so many life experiences we've had so far, including exploring the world together, we want to return to the roots of our fateful summer night introduction and have our guests witness the next chapter of our union.

The venue

A villa on the water's edge

Villa Regina Teodolinda is a historic villa on the water's edge in Laglio, on the western shore of Lake Como, with gardens on two levels, a pool overlooking the lake and its own private pier. Guests arrive from 3:00 pm for our ceremony, followed by dinner and dancing as the evening falls over the lake.

Transportation to and from the villa is provided from Cernobbio and Como on the wedding day. Please tell us where you are staying when you RSVP, so we can plan your pick-up.

Planning your trip

Travel

Everything you need to get to Lake Como, from passports to the last stretch from the airport.

Travelling from the USA

Passports & visas

US citizens do not need a visa to visit Italy for up to 90 days. Italy requires your passport to be valid for at least three months after you leave Europe, with two blank pages, and border checks are strict.

Please check your passport now. We recommend at least six months' validity from your arrival date. If your passport expires before April 2028, renew it well ahead of the wedding, as processing times can be long.

New for European travel

ETIAS travel authorisation

The EU is introducing ETIAS, an online travel authorisation for visitors who don't need a visa, including US citizens. It is scheduled to start in the last quarter of 2026, so you will most likely need one for the wedding. It costs €20, is valid for three years, and should be requested well before you travel.

Europe's new Entry/Exit System also registers your fingerprints and photo at passport control on your first visit, so allow a little extra time on arrival.

Apply only through the official EU website. Other sites charge extra fees.

Milan Malpensa & Milan Linate

Flying in

We recommend flying into Milan Malpensa (MXP), which has the most direct flights from the US, or Milan Linate (LIN), which is ideal for connections through Europe. Both are about an hour by car from Como and Cernobbio.

Malpensa by trainTake the Malpensa Express to Saronno and change for Como Nord Lago, by the lakefront. Or ride it to Milano Centrale and take the direct train to Como San Giovanni (about 40 minutes). Allow 1½–2 hours in total.
Linate by trainTake the airport bus or a taxi to Milano Centrale, then the direct train to Como San Giovanni. Allow about 2 hours in total.
By carAbout 1 hour from either airport, depending on traffic.

Private transfers & taxis

Door to door

For the easiest arrival, book a private car from the airport straight to your hotel. September is still peak season, so reserve in advance.

Why Cernobbio or Como

Laglio is a small lakeside village

Our wedding will be held at Villa Regina Teodolinda in Laglio, a small village on the western shore of the lake. Laglio has very few places to stay and limited transport links, so we recommend booking your stay in Cernobbio or Como, a short drive away.

Transportation will be provided from Cernobbio and Como to the villa and back on the wedding day.

We are not holding room blocks for the wedding, so we warmly encourage you to book your own accommodation early. September is a busy month on the lake. Please feel free to explore Airbnb or other vacation rental alternatives in the Cernobbio & Como area, which can be a great option for families or groups.

Please note that many hotels on Lake Como do not open their booking calendars for the 2027 season until October or November of the year before. If you do not see availability yet, we recommend checking back later in the year as additional rooms and rates become available.
